Terms of use

The rules for using Scissor LaTeX, in plain words.

Agreement

These terms apply when you use Scissor LaTeX at latex.scissor.studio, including its tools and the Google Drive features. Scissor LaTeX is provided by , see the imprint. By using it, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use it.

The service

Scissor LaTeX is a set of free LaTeX tools that run in your browser. There is no account, no subscription and no fee. We may add, change or remove tools and features at any time, and we may stop offering the service.

Your work stays yours

Everything you type, paste or open in the tools and the editor is processed on your device and is never sent to us. Only what you send through a feedback, bug-report or contact form, and the usage counts and error reports described in our privacy policy, reach us. You keep all rights to your work and to what the tools produce from it. When you save to Google Drive, the file is stored in your own Drive under Google's terms. Please keep copies of anything important. Our privacy policy explains what little we do receive.

Check your results

Conversions between LaTeX, HTML, Markdown, BibTeX, RIS and CSL-JSON, generated citation keys and formatted references can be incomplete or wrong, especially for unusual commands or entries. Check results before you submit them, and follow the rules of your school, university or publisher.

Acceptable use

Do not use Scissor LaTeX to break the law, to infringe anyone's rights, to harass, deceive or harm people, or to interfere with the site or its servers, for example by overloading them or trying to get around their security.

Our site

The site, its design, code, text and the Scissor names and logos belong to the provider. You may use the tools for personal, academic and commercial work, but you may not copy, resell or republish the site or its code. The open-source components and fonts it uses remain under their own licenses. TeX is a trademark of the American Mathematical Society; Scissor LaTeX is not affiliated with the LaTeX Project or the American Mathematical Society.

No warranty

Scissor LaTeX is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy and uninterrupted availability. Tools may contain errors and may not work in every browser or on every device. This does not affect liability under the paragraph below or mandatory law.

Liability

Scissor LaTeX is free. We are liable without limit for intent and gross negligence, for injury to life, body or health, under the Product Liability Act, and where we have given a guarantee. For slight negligence we are liable only for breach of an essential obligation (one that makes using the service possible and on which you may rely), limited to typical, foreseeable damage. Otherwise, liability is excluded. Please keep your own copies of your work.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. If you keep using Scissor LaTeX after a change, the updated terms apply.
